DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ITALIAN AND NON ITALIAN APPLICANTS
1. Foreign applicants which possess a title which is not
equivalent to the italian degree (laurea) must submit with the
application the degree translated in Italian and legally certified
and possibly a copy of the thesis (not translated in Italian); the
council of the graduate studies shall declare the equivalence, or not,
of the presented titles, to the Italian degree ("laurea"), as far as
the admission exam is concerned.
2. Otherwise there is no difference between italian applicants and
foreign applicants belonging to a Member State of the European Union.
Italian winners and foreign winners belonging to a Member State of the
European Union get a salary (about 1 million lire a month, which
is not much but enough to live as a graduate student in Italy).
3. Foreign winners not belonging to a Member State of the European
Union must get by themselves some scholarship. Thus I should
invite to inquire at the Italian Consulates or Embassies or other
institutions about scholarships for performing graduate or research
studies in Italy.
4. On the other hand entering for a foreign applicant not belonging
to a Member State of the European Union is easier.
In fact the rule is than no more that 4 foreign people not belonging
to a Member State of the European Union are accepted but
in practice it is enough to pass the exam because up to now we had
always less that 4 foreign applicants not belonging to a Member State
of the European Union. Instead only the first 11 ( this number may
change from year to year) applicants belonging to a Member State of
the European Union are accepted, and financially supported as described
above, among about 300 applicants.
