balance tests.
It was indeed a very subtle idea that a deviation from the
proportionality between inertial and gravitational mass
should show up as a rotation of the balance (truly
differential instrument….)
Note: Eötvös was not aware of the
work by Einstein just in the same
years….he had a very sensitive
instrument and used it!!!
